2023 Black Art Expo: Exhibitor Application Form
The Center for Black Excellence and Culture is pleased to present its first-ever Black Art Expo, which will be held indoors at 633 W Badger Rd, Madison, WI 53713 (in the atrium space of Fountain of Life Covenant Church) on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 12:00-5:00 pm. FOL will be transformed into a festive event space with approximately 20 artists' and specialty product vendors booths to shop, art making demos, mini art talks, and free craft activities for children.

Proceeds from the Black Art Expo will support the realization of The Center for Black Excellence and Culture and its future visual arts programming.

APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR BEST CONSIDERATION: October 8, 2023 (we will continue to accept applications after October 8 until all spaces are filled).

  • Oct. 8, 2023 - Application deadline for best/first consideration (Note: Applications will continue to be accepted after October 8 until all space is filled)
  • Oct. 8, 2023 - Image submission deadline (email images to annikcentered@gmail.com)
  • Oct. 15, 2023 - Artist and Vendors Announced (Booths go on sale)
  • October. 22, 2023 - SPECIAL RATE!  Pay your Booth Fee early --by October 22-- for a 50% early bird discount ($50).
  • Nov. 1, 2023 - Booth Fee Deadline ($100 if paying after after October 22)
  • Nov. 18, 2023  - Booth Assignments finalized
  • Dec. 1, 2023 - 6-8 pm Artist/Vendor load in and set-up (Friday Set-Up)
  • Dec. 2, 2023 - 9:30-11:30 am Artist/Vendor load in and set-up (Saturday Set-Up)
  • Dec. 2, 2023 - 12-5 pm Black Art Expo Open to the Public
  • Dec. 2, 2023 - 5-6:30 pm Artist/Vendor load out and Event Clean Up
RULES FOR PARTICIPATION:
Visual artists and vendors must be present for all hours of the Black Art Expo (12-5 pm on 12/2/2023). Each artist and vendor is responsible for processing their own sales, as well as collection and payment of 5.5% Dane County sales tax. No late set up or early load out is allowed. 

ELIGIBILITY:
Artists and vendors must be at least 18 years of age. The Center for Black Excellence and Culture's Black Art Expo is intended to presents artists' handmade original artwork, or small batch specialty products, not the work of mass production studios or factories. Items made with commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans or prefabricated pieces should comprise no more than half of the products offered in the booth. Clearly label anything that is a reproduction/print of an original artwork to avoid confusing buyers. The Black Art Expo committee reserves the right to refuse exhibition of artwork or products not consistent with these guidelines. 

BOOTH INFORMATION:
All booths are indoors on carpet at Fountain of Life (FOL). All booth spaces are 6’ x 4’ in size. The $100 booth fee includes use of one 6'x30" table and two chairs. Artists and vendors must provide all other display equipment that they want to use including table cloths, easels, display walls and lighting. Electricity will be available to select booths by request (first come, first served). If granted, artists and vendors should bring an extension cord. Nailing, taping and draping from FOL walls and fixtures is not permitted.

REFUND POLICY:
Booth fees will be refunded for cancellations received in writing at annikcentered@gmail.com up to November 18, 2023 at 11:59 pm CST minus a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued after November 18, 2023. refunds will be processed within 3 weeks of cancellation.
