Apply for the Gunnar Sundblad Research Foundation’s Research Communication Scholarship 2026!
Five PhD students will be selected to present their research at Ekmandagarna 2026 and receive a scholarship.
• Each participant receives 5000 SEK upon completing the program.
• The student delivering the best oral presentation will receive an additional 30000 SEK.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
• Be enrolled as a PhD student at a Swedish university.
• Conduct research relevant to the forest industry.
Program Goals
• Develop participants’ skills in scientific communication and public speaking.
• Promote engaging and concise presentations through the Pecha Kucha format.
• Strengthen the forest industry research community and visibility of future results.
The presentations will be held at SPCIs Ekmandagarna 27-28 jan 2026 in Stockholm (Grev
Turegatan 16).
Presentations can be made in either Swedish or English (although Ekmandagarna is primarily in Swedish).

31 October 2025 - last day to apply
9 November 2025 - notice of admittance
17 November 2025 - introduction to the Pecha Kucha format and presentation technique @zoom
13 January 2026 - digital presentation rehearsal @zoom
26 January 2026 - rehearsal dinner @Billerud
27-28 January 2026 - Ekmandagarna - Pecha Kucha presentations and evaluation
Evaluation
Presentations will be judged by:

The audience at Ekmandagarna
•
Representatives from industry, academia, and
•
The Gunnar Sundblad Research Foundation (or an appointed representative)
About the Pecha Kucha FormatPecha Kucha is a dynamic presentation style consisting of:
•
20 slides
•
20 seconds per slide
•
Total length: 6 minutes 40 secondsThis format encourages clarity, creativity, and engagement while avoiding overloaded slides.
Travel Grant
A travel grant for students living outside Stockholm is availible for up to 7000 SEK

development, renewal, and competitiveness of the wood fiber-based industry. Its goal is to encourage research and innovation leading to new insights and products.

SPCI is a member-based association for professionals and students interested in
technology and networking within the forestry and pulp & paper industries.
Founded in 1908, SPCI shares knowledge through events, study visits, and forums for exchange. Membership is free for anyone under 35.
