MITA Monitor Skipper Program: Prospective Apprentice Questionnaire

APPRENTICE SKIPPERS SHOULD:
- Have extensive off-shore small powerboat handling experience
- Own or have access to a tow vehicle (Class II or III hitch / 1400+ lbs)
- Be able to volunteer 2 or more days per month between May and September

PLEASE NOTE:
While advanced coastal boating and navigation skills are required to be a Skipper, apprentices are not required to have prior extensive knowledge of all topics in this survey. Survey results will be used to identify baseline skill levels and improve the efficiency of your time in the Apprentice program.

PUBLIC RELATIONS- MITA AMBASSADORS

Monitor Skippers are representatives of MITA and must often speak with island users while on the job. Skippers sometimes encounter users who may be violating low-impact principles or island guidelines. As MITA ambassadors, it is crucial that skippers communicate with users in a professional, positive, and non-threatening manner.
