Parent Understanding and Commitment / Comprensión y Compromiso de los padres
I would like my child to be enrolled in the Two-Way Spanish Dual Language Program for the 2024-2025 school year. I understand the program will continue through my child’s completion of fifth grade.
Preference is given to students who have Winston Campus, Jane Addams, or Kimball Hill listed as their home school and to those who have siblings in the program. If demand exceeds available space, a random student selection process will be implemented.
The CCSD15 Two-Way Spanish Dual Language Program is designed to develop bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural students. Parents who are interested in enrolling their child should fully understand the commitment to the program by reviewing the following statements:
• I understand that Two-Way Spanish Dual Language Program classes will be taught 80% in Spanish and 20% in English during kindergarten.
• I understand that Spanish instruction will decrease by 10% each year and English instruction will increase by 10% each year until instruction is taught 50% in Spanish and 50% in English starting in 3rd grade.
• I understand that my child will learn to read in Spanish first.
• I understand that the Two-Way Spanish Dual Language Program continues through the end of elementary school, 5th grade.
• I understand that I need to read to my child at home in our native language for 20-30 minutes each day.
• I understand that it is an academically challenging environment, and my child may experience fatigue and/or frustration while learning a second language. Knowing this, I will not request removal from the program for these reasons.
District 15 has the right of school assignment regarding Two-Way Spanish Dual Language. Families cannot indicate a preference of school when submitting their application forms to the Multilingual Programs Department. Please note that submitting an application for the dual language program does not guarantee placement.
Families will be notified of their placement into the program by the end of the day on April 22, 2024.

Me gustaría que mi hijo/a se inscribiera en el Programa de Lenguaje Dual Español (
de dos vías ) para el año escolar 2024-2025. Entiendo que el programa continuará hasta que mi hijo/a complete el quinto grado.
Se da preferencia a los estudiantes que tienen Winston Campus, Jane Addams, o Kimball Hill como su escuela de origen y a aquellos que tienen hermanos/as en el programa. Si la demanda excede el espacio disponible, se implementará un proceso al azar de selección de estudiantes.
El Programa de Lenguaje Dual Español CCSD15 de dos vías está diseñado para desarrollar estudiantes bilingües, literarios en dos idiomas y biculturales. Los padres que estén interesados en inscribir a sus hijos/as deben comprender completamente el compromiso con el programa al revisar las siguientes declaraciones:
• Entiendo que las clases del programa bidireccional de español de lenguaje dual se impartirán en un 80% en español y 20% en inglés durante el kindergarten.
• Entiendo que la instrucción en español disminuirá en un 10% cada año y la instrucción en inglés aumentará en un 10% cada año hasta que la enseñanza se enseñe 50% en español y 50% en inglés empezando en el tercer grado.
• Entiendo que mi hija/o primero aprenderá a leer en español.
• Entiendo que el Programa de Lenguaje Dual Español
de dos vías continúa hasta el final de la escuela primaria,
quinto grado.
• Entiendo que necesito leerle a mi hijo/a en casa en nuestro idioma nativo durante 20-30 minutos cada día.
• Entiendo que es un entorno académicamente desafiante y que mi hijo/a puede experimentar fatiga y/o frustración mientras aprende un segundo idioma. Sabiendo esto, no solicitaré la eliminación del programa por estos motivos.
El Distrito 15 tiene el derecho de asignación escolar con respecto al Lenguaje Dual Español
de dos vías. Las familias no pueden indicar una preferencia de escuela al enviar sus formularios de solicitud al Departamento Multilingüe. Tenga en cuenta también que enviar una solicitud para el programa de lenguaje dual no garantiza la colocación.
Las familias serán notificadas de su admisión en el programa hasta 22 de abril de 2024 al final del día.
