The second edition of the Pelagos Forum, organised by the Pelagos Initiative
, will convene stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, including marine protected areas (MPAs), local authorities, fishermen, the tourism sector, NGOs, scientists, national agencies, authorities and young people.
Four mains topics will be addressed throughout the day:
- Strengthening MPAs: how to better enhance the effectiveness of (MPAs) within the Pelagos Sanctuary, thereby maximizing their contribution to the broader conservation goals of the sanctuary?
- Sustainable fishing activities in the Pelagos Sanctuary: what are the opportunities and challenges by 2030?
- Acoustic pollution: how can we address acoustic pollution and minimize noise levels within the Pelagos Sanctuary?
- Sustainable tourism: how to foster eco-friendly touristic activities in the Pelagos Sanctuary?
The forum will facilitate cooperation among key stakeholders and formulate recommendations for collaborative, transnational actions, partnerships, and projects that may potentially receive funding from the Pelagos Initiative.
The Pelagos Initiative has launched a call for expression of interest
opened until April 19th. The forum will be the
occasion to better understand the expectations of the Pelagos Initiative and
adjust their proposals accordingly.
