ISB Sewing Classes

Adult Beginner 1 Day Workshop

This workshop will help beginners learn about their sewing machine, fabric selection, needle selection, basic patterns, cutting, and practice basic sewing and hemming.

  1. Must have your own machine. Must be familiar with your sewing machine and at least know where the parts of your machine are (presser foot, hand wheel, on/off switch, reverse button, tension control, bobbin, thread spool, stitch selector, etc).  You can read your manual before taking this class and look up your machine on YouTube. Because every machine is different the instructor will demonstrate parts on her machine and have you find them on your machine.

  2. Talk about needles!

  3. Talk about fabric types!

  4. Patterns - reading a basic pattern i.e. pillow.

  5. Cutting - Scissors vs rotary cutter, cutting using a pattern vs measuring and cutting.
