Urgent call for humanity and international indignation for children of Gaza
December 25, 2023. We, people and organizations defending human rights of children, from various areas and places in the world, raise our voices in the face of the critical situation in Gaza. The loss of thousands of children's lives and of tens of thousands of injured, displaced and hungry people are unacceptable. We join our voice with that of UNICEF, sharing its deep indignation at this humanitarian crisis that disproportionately affects girls and most vulnerable children. It is urgent to guarantee compliance with Resolution 2720 (2023) of the UN Security Council, December 22, to significantly increase humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Israeli military intervention has caused thousands of deaths of girls, boys and adolescents. Furthermore, the military siege prevents survivors and their families from getting food, it has destroyed homes and basic services, it does not allow humanitarian aid to enter, and it forces people to wander about the territory without finding safe haven or relief. Girls and boys are being detained, others remain hostage. The entire population is traumatized by bombs and crimes committed. This can and should be stopped.
Girls and boys are the center of this human rights crisis. Their right to life, security and well-being must be protected without hesitation by the international community. We demand immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and the release of all hostages. We cannot celebrate festivities while the people of Gaza live in constant fear and suffering from the bombings. We share the INDIGNATION expressed by UNICEF!!!. Life and the future of humanity are at risk.
We invite experts, academics, children's organizations and everyone to unite in the demand for ceasefire and protection for all children of Gaza. We make a call for humanity and solidarity!
