Your dream (distance) creative writing class
I will be offering creative writing classes via Zoom starting this summer. This survey is to help me decide what stuff to teach and to see who might be interested in taking one.
How likely are you to take a class with me in 2018?
Not gonna happen this year
It would take wild horses and a tornado to stop me
Let me know your day, time and other schedule preferences below:
Do you prefer one-time or multi-week classes?
One-time classes (at least at first)
Multi-week (up to 4 weeks)
Multi-week (up to 10 weeks)
Multiple classes that meet less often (biweekly or monthly)
What do you want out of a class? (select as many as apply)
A space to experiment, play and figure out what I like writing
Deadlines to motivate me to write outside of class
Exposure to new writers and styles
Constructive feedback from peers to revise and develop my work
A regular time when I know I will get writing done
Interesting discussions about literature with other writers
Lessons on specific craft areas (e.g. character development, image, plot, POV)
What genre(s) are you interested in working in?
short stories (fiction)
other creative non-fiction (like Rebecca Solnit or Maggie Nelson)
Which of these categories best describes you?
A total beginner
A writer (with or without imposter syndrome) with one or more current writing projects
Used to write and not sure how to start again
A genre-hopper (e.g. currently write poetry but want to want to write a sci-fi novel)
Which of these is most important to you in deciding whether to sign up?
Cost & affordability
Duration of commitment (i.e. how many weeks the class lasts)
Meets your specific project goals (e.g. revising your memoir)
Level of challenge/subject depth
Here is a delightful and unexpected sentence.
Send me a copy of my responses.
