Ignite Mentor and Coordinator Application for Semester 1 2020
Ignite Mentoring supports high school students from low socioeconomic backgrounds to develop soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication and problem solving. Through gaining these skills, students increase their self-confidence and resilience, allowing them to reach their full potential.
WHAT DO MENTORS DO?
Mentors attend weekly, regular classes in small groups at schools around Perth. The role of a mentor involves engaging with students as a positive role model and leading fun, hands-on activities designed to help students develop these valuable life skills.
WHAT DO COORDINATORS DO?
The role of a coordinator involves planning Ignite classes from activity handbooks, liaising with your class teacher and supporting and guiding your mentors to empower students over the nine weekly classes. To apply to be a coordinator you must have mentored with Ignite for at least one semester in the past.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
Nine weekly, hour long classes will run through Semester 1, 2020 from March 9th- May 22nd. You will be able to indicate preferences for which regular class time slot you would like to attend if successful in your application.
- The role of a mentor takes up approximately 3 hours per week (1 hr class + max 2 hr travel).
- The role of a coordinator takes up approximately 3.5 hours per week (0.5 hr planning, 1 hr class + max 2 hr travel).
