Now in our 17th successful year of Summer Camp programming, our camps are where students receive inspirational instruction in the basics of inquiry based science on the beach. Camp runs from 9 AM to 4 PM daily with the exception of an overnight trip Aug. 10-11. Our trained staff keeps the momentum moving in this engaging camp where we have 1 primary and 4 secondary instructors per 16 students. Having fun with friends on the beach and connecting to the valuable resources we have in the South Sound has been a hallmark of what we strive for at NRNC for the last 30 years. Nested in one of the healthiest estuaries in the Puget Sound students will get access to and gain knowledge about what makes this estuary so special.
NEW THIS YEAR: Campers from the Citizen Science Academy program will be kayaking near NRNC on McAllister Creek. Campers will also get a chance to see the Nisqually glacier and river while on a hiking and camping trip to Mt. Rainier National Park. This camping trip occurs on August 10-11th with campers arriving at the nature center at 9 AM on August 10th and returning to the nature center by 4 PM on August 11th. Please note there will be additional permission, liability, and medical forms emailed to parents/guardians closer to the camp date.
APPLICATION PROCESS: Enrollment is first come, first served.
To apply, please submit this program application (including financial aid request form if applicable), and at least a $50 non-refundable deposit if not the full tuition for your child’s camp sessions.
We will notify each applicant regarding enrollment status as soon as possible, typically within three weeks of receiving your complete application. If you don’t hear from us within three weeks of submitting your application, it may be incomplete; please contact us to find out what is missing!
TUITION AND FINANCIAL AID
Members - $215 Non-Members - $235
The $50 deposit due with your application is a part your child’s tuition.
Limited financial aid is available. We try very hard to make Camp accessible to everyone and not to turn a camper away due to financial need. Please ask for what you need and pay what you can. Financial Aid requests may take longer than three weeks to process.
We work all year long to keep our costs low, to offer more programming and provide financial aid through grants, fundraising, benefits, etc. As a nonprofit, any amount paid over the standard fees is considered a tax-deductible donation and greatly appreciated. Let us know if you need a tax receipt and we will send you one. Please consider sponsoring another camper. Thank you!
