Consultation re: Admissions Arrangements for 2019/20
St John’s Church of England Primary School are consulting on the proposed admission arrangements for 2019/20. As an own admission authority school, we consult directly with our own families and the local community. The consultation commences on Monday 20th November and will end on Friday 5th January 2018 at 5pm. The results will be published to our website shortly thereafter and will be taken into consideration when determining our admissions arrangements for 2019/20.
We are proposing one additional oversubscription criteria which will affect how places are allocated. All other amendments are minor changes to wording to provide additional clarity.

2. We would like to introduce an additional oversubscription criteria in relation to the children of staff. Our staff are vitally important to the whole school community and as a growing school, we are committed to recruiting high quality staff who of course would like to have their children at our school. Other local schools already include a similar criteria and we would not want to be at a disadvantage when recruiting. The proposed criteria would be placed below siblings of children currently at the school and above those allocated by distance to the school. To qualify, the member of staff must have been in post for 2 years at the time of the application or have been employed to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage. For 19/20, we would designate that as Teacher posts. The exact wording can be found in Section 3 of the draft admissions arrangements. Do you agree that we should include an oversubscription criteria in relation to the children of staff. *
