I started work on this book a few years ago but it got sidelined by "life". I've now written a number of self-published books, so I know how to make this work and want to restart engines on this book.
I've been working on it over the summer and have a "mockup", and the primary themes, which are:
- Innovation: How BigPond innovated and created a firehose of Internet product ideas.
- The BigPond Vibe & Camaraderie: How BigPond developed such positive, long-term relationships amongst team members, from then until now?
- Telstra & BigPond: How did the interplay between Telstra and BigPond help or hinder the plans of both organisations?
Right now, everything is draft and up for rework, including the title, themes, style and most especially the execrable mockup cover I created as a placeholder.
I want to keep the story both real and fun to capture the zeitgeist of the boom times. It's neither a hagiography nor a whistleblower treatise. We spanned four Telstra CEO's (not counting acting) and IDK how many "head of bigpond" incumbents, so there's a lot of material.
Your answers will help me work out the development strategies for this book.
Thanks in advance. I'd appreciate knowing who you are, but anonymous responses are better than nothing.
Depending on the responses (and actual follow-up actions), I expect the book to be published later in 2025 or in early 2026.
