Southeastern CT's One Book One Region (OBOR) 2020 Kickoff Event Registration

The 2020 selection for One Book One Region is Crazy Brave, a memoir by author-poet Joy Harjo. She is a nationally recognized poet and the first Native American Poet Laureate, named in April 2020 to a second term as the nation's poet laureate. In addition to Crazy Brave, Harjo has published nine books of poetry, several plays, and children's books.
A virtual kickoff celebration for the book is planned for June 17 at 7 p.m. with keynote speaker Sandy Grande. Grande is Professor of Education and Director of the Center for the Critical Study of Race and Ethnicity at Connecticut College. Her areas of specialization are Native American/Indigenous Education and Critical Indigenous Theory. Her landmark book Red Pedagogy: Native American Social and Political Thought was recently published in a 10th anniversary edition.
