Five-week Queer Teen Writing Workshop
Culminating in a published collection by Nomadic Press

Five Sundays, 1pm-5pm
February 25 through March 25

Lead by Oakland poet Janae Johnson

Free and open to all LGBTQIA teens, ages 13-18. Space is limited to 10 writers. OUSD registered teens will be prioritized and a writing sample will be required upon registration. All types of writers welcome: poets, fiction writers, journalists, playwrights, creative nonfiction/personal narrative writers are all encouraged to join us.

The camp will culminate in a published book and reading on Friday, April 6.

Janae Johnson is a black queer poet, community organizer, teaching artist, and full-time educator. Hailing from California, she is the 2015 Women of the World Poetry Champion as well as a 2015 National Poetry Slam Champion. She is also the Co-Fo​under of both: ​The Root Slam poetry venue in Oakland, California​, ​and ​The ​House Slam poetry venue in Boston, MA.
