Nick Burks Memorial Motorized Avalanche Education Scholarship
Thank you for your interest in Motorized Avalanche Education with the Wallowa Avalanche Center.  Please fill out the questions below to apply for the scholarship which will cover tuition costs for a Level 1 or 2 Motorized AIARE course during the 2026 winter.   Presented by the Barley Brown's in Baker City, OR.

Anyone 18 years or older interested in taking an AIARE 1 or 2 through WAC is eligible to apply.  Participants who have already paid and registered for a course this winter can also apply, and if awarded the scholarship, will be refunded their tuition upon completion of the course.  Participants must have at least intermediate backcountry riding skills, their own snowmobile and helmet.  If you don't have a transceiver, shovel and probe we can provide these items.  
 
Upon completion of the course, the participants must submit a short essay on their learning outcomes and experience along with 5 photos taken during the course.  

Due date: December 15, 2025.  Winners announced Late December.
