Roots and Community 11/18/23 5:30 - 7:30pm
To The Children's School Community:

Roots and Community is a valued tradition at the Children's School as it allows us to celebrate our diversity and share our cultures with each other. For many years, we have been able to gather together in person to honor these differences. In the past, we have had more than 20 groups represented (ex. Japan, LGBTQIA+, Jewish Heritage, the Dominican Republic, Italy, China, Morocco, Jamaica, Mexico, etc.) through informative displays, hands-on activities, traditional music and food tastings. We are excited to plan for another in-person Roots and Community Event on Saturday November 18th 2023 from 5:30 to 7:30PM (location: Gym) at 512 Carroll Street.

We are seeking volunteers who can represent their community at a table. Tabling an event can include making a craft, displaying information, playing games and/or sharing special food items/dishes. In the past we have had origami, interactive worksheets, making rainbow flags, tile painting and we welcome your creative ideas for sharing your unique culture!

You are also welcome to bring authentic food to share without hosting a table.

You can also let us know if you are interested in performing for 15-20 minutes on the day of the event.

Please email Frank ( ) or Melissa ( if you have any questions.

Thank you!
