Dear students,
METU Optics and Photonics Society (METU OPS) and the Quantum METU are jointly organizing the GEANT4 Simulation Training, a fundamental tool for particle physics and detector simulations.
This training aims to provide interested participants with the necessary foundational infrastructure to perform simulations using GEANT4.
⚠️ Important Information: Prerequisite Training
Before starting GEANT4 simulations, participants must be familiar with the necessary programming and analysis tools. Therefore, the event program is in two stages:
Pre-Training: Training on C++ and ROOT usage will be given on October 25-26 as preparation for the GEANT4 main course. Completing this pre-training, which will be conducted by our instructor İlker Emre Koç, is highly important for attending the GEANT4 lecture.
GEANT4 Lecture: The C++ and ROOT pre-training is of great importance for those who will attend the main GEANT4 course, which will be given by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bingül.
Important Note: Prof. Dr. Bingül will conduct the GEANT4 course assuming that participants possess basic C++ and ROOT programming and analysis skills. Therefore, taking this pre-training is highly recommended in order to efficiently understand the course content and successfully follow the practical applications. The pre-training will maximize the benefit you gain from the main course.

The training sessions will be hands-on. Therefore:
Everyone must bring their own laptop.
It is mandatory to have the necessary programs (C++ compiler, ROOT, GEANT4) installed on your computer before attending the event.
