2017 "Save the World Fair" Registration

Calling ALL Allegany College of Maryland students from Cumberland, to Somerset, to Bedford campuses!

How can you be a Save the World Change Agent? It's simple!

Enter the "Save the World Fair Competition,"to be held Wed., April 26 at ACM's Cumberland Campus in the College Center & Auditorium - from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Are you passionate about saving the world? Do you have a solution to a problem that will make the world a better place to live in? Here is your chance to share your ideas and build energy and civic engagement in your action plans.

The application deadline is Friday, April 21, 2017.

To be entered in the competition - FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW.

Guidelines for your Presentation / Poster board:

1) Create a compelling title to capture the world's attention.
2) Describe the problem you have chosen to work on from alternative viewpoints.
3) Explain the issue with facts, statistics, interviews, photos, or other credible evidence.
4) Conclude with a solution and describe how YOU will accomplish it.

WIN PRIZES! Each of the poster presentations will be voted on by students, staff, and community leaders.

SAVE THE WORLD VOTING CRITERIA:

1) The title captures the viewer's attention.
2) The problem being presented is clearly defined and considers diverse and multiple perspectives.
3) Background information about the issue is clear, accurate, engaging, & credible - source information is listed.
4) A creative solution is being presented that can be applied in real life circumstances.

PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED FOR PRESENTATIONS THAT EARN THE MOST VOTES.

The top two winners will attend the "Civic Learning & Democratic Engagement Meeting" on June 7-10 in Baltimore, MD at the Marriott Waterfront and stay overnight, all expenses paid. More information at: http://www.aascu.org/meetings/clde17.

The third place winner will receive a $100 gift card to Walmart.

The fourth place winner will receive a $50 gift card to the ACM Book Center.
