ABE and Pikes Peak Arts Council 2019 Arts Business Education Awards Nomination Form
Each year, the Arts Business Education Awards recognize innovative approaches in arts education in the Pikes Peak region. The Pikes Peak Arts Council is proud to assist in recognizing artists, educators, and business leaders within our community who contribute significantly to arts education.

Eligibility, Selection, and Criteria
Any individual, instructor, teacher, business, organization or institution in the Pikes Peak region involved in arts and cultural activities is eligible for nomination.

We do not currently accept self-nominations.

Award recipients will be chosen from the pool of nominees by the PPAC Board of Directors and the ABE committee. At the discretion of this Committee, selections may include more than one award per category, and may not include an award in every category.

The criteria the Jury will use to rank and select awards is as follows:

-Significance and magnitude of creative achievement
-Length of time and intensity of activity dedicated to the arts
-Leadership that stimulates growth, support and/or availability of the arts
-Contributions to excellence in the arts

Please read ALL categories before selecting ONE. You may nominate more than one person. Use one form per nomination. In addition to your nominating letter, you must include one supporting letter.

Descriptions of each award are listed below. After reading please choose 1 (one) below:
1. YOUTH RECOGNITION AWARD Given in recognition of a specific performance, exhibition, or special project by middle or high school students that exemplifies outstanding achievement by student artists. (PPAC)

* Describe specific examples of the nominee’s activities that are beyond the requirements of normal requirements and
assignments.

2. ARTS OPPORTUNITIES AWARD: Given to a public or non-profit organization, business or institution or person(s) providing exceptional opportunities for student and emerging artists within and/or beyond the school setting. (PPAC)

* Describe specific examples of the nominee’s activities that allow students and artists exceptional opportunities.

3. ARTS ADVOCACY AWARD: Given to an individual, group or organization that demonstrates dedication to cultivating and growing the arts through promotional, volunteer, administrative, legislative, and/or individual efforts. (PPAC)

* Describe specific examples of programs, initiatives and promotions developed and practiced as a direct result of this group or individual.

4. DISTINGUISHED VISUAL/LITERARY ARTS TEACHER: This award is for an experienced (5 year min) teacher of the visual or literary arts (includes but not limited to mosaics, sculptures, photography, creative writing, etc.) who has contributed significantly to arts education.

*Describe specific examples of the nominee’s activities that are beyond the requirements of curriculum and normal duty
assignments. Include # of years your nominee has taught. Can this teacher’s efforts serve as a model for other teachers? Have efforts been made, or will they be made to disseminate this model within or beyond your school district?

5. DISTINGUISHED PERFORMING ARTS TEACHER: This award is for an experienced (5 year min) teacher of the performing arts (i.e. music, dance, theater) who has contributed significantly to arts education.

*Describe specific examples of the nominee’s activities that are beyond the requirements of curriculum and normal duty assignments. Include number of years your nominee has taught. Can this teacher’s efforts serve as a model for other teachers? Have efforts been made, or will they be made to disseminate this model within or beyond your school district?

6. DISTINGUISHED ADMINISTRATOR: This award is for an experienced administrator (i.e. superintendent, associate superintendent, principal, asst. principal, director of elem. ed., etc.) who has contributed to the development of arts in education programs.

* Describe specific examples of policies, objectives and programs developed and practiced as a direct result of the initiatives of this administrator that have gone beyond the district’s or the school’s previous requirements.

7. ONGOING SUPPORT FOR THE ARTS: This award is for classroom teacher(s), individual(s) and/or organization(s) for providing outstanding arts experiences in education.

* Describe specific examples of the nominee’s activities that support the arts beyond the curriculum requirements and normal duty assignments. Include how many years your nominee has contributed this support.

8. UNIQUE PROJECT: This award is for teacher(s), administrator(s), business(es) or organization(s) for their creation and implementation of an arts program or event. The project must have been completed by January 2019.

* Identify the project, its specific goals, the length of time covered by this project, and how many students were impacted. Include the evaluation results of this project.

9. COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR ARTS EDUCATION: This award is for a local, regional, or statewide elected official or a local citizen who has contributed significantly to the development of arts education. He/she may have accomplished this through volunteer work or by providing materials, money and or services. Describe in detail the nature of this contribution. (COPPeR)

10. BUSINESS SUPPORT OF THE ARTS: The arts have a direct impact on our economic growth and enhance the quality of life in our community. That’s why the Chamber & EDC is proud to partner with the ABE Consortium to present the 2019 Business Support of the Arts award. We are seeking nominees from the business community who have gone above and beyond in their support of the arts.
