Representing Trafficking Survivors in Survivors First Act Petitions Training

WEBINAR DATE: March 10, 2025
WEBINAR TIME: 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Join other attorneys and victim service professionals in participating in this exciting training opportunity to equip you with the knowledge and skills to effectively represent victims and survivors of human trafficking who were convicted of criminal offenses as a result of their trafficking victimization. The Wilbanks Child Endangerment and Sexual Exploitation Clinic (CEASE) is working with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council of Georgia to identify survivors of trafficking who are currently incarcerated in Georgia Department of Corrections Facilities to determine whether they may be eligible for relief under the Survivors First Act. That Act allows for convictions and sentences to be vacated if the offense occurred as the direct result of trafficking victimization.

CEASE is working to develop a network of attorneys who would be interested in representing survivors pro bono to seek this relief.  This training will teach about the history and purpose of the Survivors First Act, and equip interested attorneys with the knowledge and skills to provide that representation. You will also have the opportunity to be a referral source for inmates who are identified as potentially eligible for that relief.

CEASE intends to offer CLE credit for the training.

Please join other attorneys across the state in this meaningful opportunity to learn how to represent survivors of trafficking by registering below.

If you have any questions, please contact CEASE Legal Administrative Specialist Alice Hayes at admin@ugacease.org or (706) 227-5421.
