INTRODUCTION TO BLACK CLASSICAL COMPOSERS with Chenoa Alamu Murphy, M,T, W, TH 10-11am PDT
(ages 9-14 years old, all instruments welcome)  Limited Spots Available

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
What does a champion fencer, an autistic savant, a nun, and a sailor have in common? They are all classical music composers and musicians who contributed greatly in this field during the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. They also all happen to be of African descent. Currently, there are over 300 classical composers and musicians of African descent, both deceased and alive! This class will highlight 8 of them!

Due to the time periods, topics such as racism, chattel slavery and segregation will be discussed as it relates to the composers/musicians life! By the end of the class, however, you will be inspired by the strength, courage, giftedness, and outstanding contributions and achievements of these amazing human beings.
