Year Round Committees
These committees meet and hold various events throughout the year. Volunteers will be called on as needed by Committee Chairs.
DONE IN A DAY - Contact: Lloret Moussa
This program provides parents with unpredictable schedules the perfect opportunity to volunteer on a one-time basis. From administrative tasks, to math games, from shelving library books, to setting-up for performances, there are many ways to lend the teachers a hand and show your support for the school.
Each May we honor our teachers and staff with a week-long celebration by organizing appreciation breakfasts, lunches, and surprises along with special treats throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to help come up with fun ideas and help prepare the treats, and/or attend planned events.
PHOTOGRAPHER - Contact: Lloret Moussa
Photographs capture special moments during the school year and it is often parents who get the best shots. Volunteers are needed to take photos of students during special events, field trips, and in everyday situations.
Once a month students in grades PK-2 and all teachers and staff gather in St. Francis Hall for a community pizza lunch. Volunteers are needed to help set-up, serve, and clean-up, and may sign-up on a month by month basis.
PARENT TO PARENT - Chair: Michelle Birnbaum
Build connections among parents through various community events. Volunteers help to plan and organize events throughout the year.
The Uniform Closet provides parents with a place to drop-off clean, gently used uniforms that students have outgrown and allows parents to take uniforms for their children. Volunteers are needed to help organize the closet once in the fall and once in the spring, and help promote and set-up two “Uniform Trunk Shows.”
Community Events
These events are held on specific days throughout the year. Volunteers will be contacted by Event Chairs who will provide information and communicate the ways volunteers can help. Events are listed in chronological order.
HOMECOMING AND WALK FOR THE HOMELESS (Location: Postoak Campus - All Community Event) - Chair: Ana Pabon-Naab
Held on October 13th, Homecoming is a day that celebrates school spirit with a walk that supports the homeless in the DC area, followed by sporting events, food, games and fun for the whole family, including carnival-style activities for our younger students. Volunteers are needed to assist in monitoring various areas in manageable shifts during the celebration.
From October 29th - November 2nd, the Lower School puts on a week-long Book Fair in collaboration with Scholastic Books where parents can purchase books for their children and for the classrooms. Volunteers are needed to set-up, clean-up, and work shifts at the Book Fair itself.
On November 20th, St. Andrew’s celebrates Grandparents and Special Friends with a light breakfast, student performance, a visit to the classrooms, and a special Chapel. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up and check-in, and will serve as hosts and guides to visitors.
