Year Round Committees
These committees meet and hold various events throughout the year. Volunteers will be called on as needed by Committee Chairs.
DONE IN A DAY - Contact: Lloret Moussa
This program provides parents with unpredictable schedules the perfect opportunity to volunteer on a one-time basis. From administrative tasks, to math games, from shelving library books, to setting-up for performances, there are many ways to lend the teachers a hand and show your support for the school.
FACULTY/STAFF APPRECIATION COMMITTEE  - Chair: Amanda Candy
Each May we honor our teachers and staff with a week-long celebration by organizing appreciation breakfasts, lunches, and surprises along with special treats throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to help come up with fun ideas and help prepare the treats, and/or attend planned events.
PHOTOGRAPHER - Contact: Lloret Moussa
Photographs capture special moments during the school year and it is often parents who get the best shots. Volunteers are needed to take photos of students during special events, field trips, and in everyday situations.
PIZZA LUNCH - Contact:  TBD
Once a month students in grades PK-2 and all teachers and staff gather in St. Francis Hall for a community pizza lunch. Volunteers are needed to help set-up, serve, and clean-up, and may sign-up on a month by month basis.
PARENT TO PARENT - Chair: Michelle Birnbaum
Build connections among parents through various community events. Volunteers help to plan and organize events throughout the year.
UNIFORM EXCHANGE - Chair: TBD
The Uniform Closet provides parents with a place to drop-off clean, gently used uniforms that students have outgrown and allows parents to take uniforms for their children. Volunteers are needed to help organize the closet once in the fall and once in the spring, and help promote and set-up two “Uniform Trunk Shows.”
Community Events
These events are held on specific days throughout the year. Volunteers will be contacted by Event Chairs who will provide information and communicate the ways volunteers can help. Events are listed in chronological order.
HOMECOMING AND WALK FOR THE HOMELESS (Location: Postoak Campus - All Community Event) - Chair: Ana Pabon-Naab
 Held on October 13th, Homecoming is a day that celebrates school spirit with a walk that supports the homeless in the DC area, followed by sporting events, food, games and fun for the whole family, including carnival-style activities for our younger students. Volunteers are needed to assist in monitoring various areas in manageable shifts during the celebration.  
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR - LS Chair:  TBD, IS Chair: TBD
From October 29th - November 2nd, the Lower School puts on a week-long Book Fair in collaboration with Scholastic Books where parents can purchase books for their children and for the classrooms. Volunteers are needed to set-up, clean-up, and work shifts at the Book Fair itself.
GRANDPARENTS AND SPECIAL FRIENDS DAY - Chair: TBD
On November 20th, St. Andrew’s celebrates Grandparents and Special Friends with a light breakfast, student performance, a visit to the classrooms, and a special Chapel. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up and check-in, and will serve as hosts and guides to visitors.
HOLIDAY DECORATIONS - (Location: Potomac Village Campus) Chair: TBD
The committee decorates the Potomac Village campus for the winter holidays.
LS/IS FAMILY HERITAGE FESTIVAL (Location: Postoak Campus)- Chair: TBD
On February 15th, from 6pm to 8pm, Lower School and Intermediate School families will have the opportunity to celebrate and share their heritage by hosting tables featuring photographs, art, maps and food from the country, state or region they are representing. Volunteers are needed to help organize and promote the event, and to set-up, clean-up and provide support during the event.
SCIENCE FAIR - Chair: TBD
On March 1st, PK - 2nd grade students share their individual and class science projects with their families and peers during the Lower School Science Fair. Volunteers are needed to help set-up on February 28th and clean-up after the fair.
PROJECT RED BALLOON - Chair: TBD
On March 19th, help welcome newly enrolled families into the St. Andrew's community by decorating their mailboxes with SAES balloons. This one-day activity is full-on fun and it's the perfect way to show your school spirit!
GALA (Loction: Washington National Cathedral - All Community Event) - Contact: Ana Pabon-Naab
St. Andrew's annual Fund-A-Scholar Gala will be held on March 2, 2019 at Washington National Cathedral. Please stay tuned for more information on this community event. Event will feature an online silent auction, LIVE! auction and a community dinner.
YOUNG AUTHORS & ARTISITS WEEK - Chair: TBD
From April 29 - May 3,  the Literature and Art will be celebrated at the Lower School.  A children's author will visit, parents will be invited to morning Tea events where students showcase their own creative skills, and a used book drive is on-going throughout the week. Volunteers are needed to help organize and promote the events and to provide support during the events. Volunteers are also needed to help with decorating St. Francis Hall and hang artwork.
FLOWER MART - (Location: Washington National Cathedral) - Co-Chairs: Crystal Thrower and Suellen Williams
Held the first Friday and Saturday in May at the Washington National Cathedral. Parents help out at one of several booths.
SPRING FAIR - Chair: TBD
On May 11th,  we will celebrate the end of the school year and look forward to the next by bringing both current and newly enrolled students and their families together for a day of fun with rides, moonbounces, pizza, popcorn and sno-cones. Volunteers are needed to help organize and promote the event and to set-up, clean-up, and provide support during the event. (Rain date is May 18th).
FIELD DAYS - Chair: TBD
At the end of May, Lower School students will put their athletic skills to the test as they compete in a variety of outdoor games while parents cheer them on. Volunteers are needed to provide support during the events.
