The 2nd annual Stanford FLI Conference is an initiative of Stanford First-Generation and/or Low-Income Partnership (FLIP) and the FLI Office. The Stanford FLI Conference intends to cultivate a space for FLI students (undergraduate and graduate) to feel empowered in their intersectional identities while learning more about these identities. This conference builds on previous efforts to build a national FLI community to share resources and support for FLI students in all higher education institutions.
Following last year's ABCs (Advocacy, Belonging, and Community), our 2019 theme is UPLIFTING VOICES: Diversity, Equity, and Finesse. We are inviting FLI students and administrators from various institutions to discuss our DEFs (Diversity, Equity, and Finesse) so that we can create a unified vision for current and future FLI students. We will have speakers, panels, and workshops focusing on the ways FLI students are able to assist each other in taking action to make substantial differences in the way that first-generation and/or low-income students navigate college. We will be action-oriented, intentional and inclusive in how we approach this conference. Ultimately, we hope all attendees leave with a sense of what diversity, equity, and finessing mean to our FLI community.
There is no registration fee to attend the conference and meals will be provided. Attendees are responsible for transportation costs and housing. Undergraduate students can choose to be hosted by a Stanford student for no cost.
