With support from the Norwegian Cultural Fund, Rangøya International Cultural Centre is able to offer a opportunities for a residency at the Norwegian coast.
Nestled on Rangøya island, near the stunning Atlantic Ocean Road in Averøy, Norway, the residency takes place in a spacious old house featuring four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a shared kitchen, a cozy living room, and a small library. Each bedroom is equipped with a desk, and there is an additional separate working room. The nearest grocery store is located about 5 km away.
The residency is specifically designed to create a meeting place between nations. as it is a condition that at least two nationalities are present.
Please read the conditions before applying:
- Applications will be accepted from at least two writers, translators or artists with ties to at least two countries or nationalities applying together. The recommended maximum number of applicants is four.
- Multidiciplinary artistic cooperation is welcomed, but at least one of the applicants should work within literature.
- Recommended length of the residency is one month, but the exact days can be flexibly agreed upon.
- Residents may be invited to participate in cultural events or public readings. Blog entries or similar reflections about the residency are also encouraged.
- Applications will be reviewed by the Centre's artistic council, prioritizing them with regard to the applicants' professional achievements and merits, plans for the residency and potential contribution to the local cultural scene.
- All nationalities (including locals) are welcome to apply, but applications with a Nordic and/or Baltic connection may be prioritized.
Currently the open slots for residency applications are January, February, March and May.
The deadline for applications is December 1st.
The stay is free of charge, but the scholarship does not include food, travel expenses or monetary remuneration.
Use of other national or international sources of support is therefore highly encouraged.
If you get the resiendcy, a letter of confirmation will be issued that can be used as documentation when applying other support. Depending on the profile and plans of the residents, contacts with the local literary and cultural scene will be facilitated.
We reserve the right to extend the deadline and/or amend the conditions to include additional groups. In such a case, the applicants will be informed.
