OCA-NY Hate Crimes Prevention Art Project (HCPAP) 2023 Intern Application

Priority will be given to applicants who submit by Monday, 5/15

Looking for 15 high school interns for the Hate Crimes Prevention Art Project (HCPAP), an art competition to raise awareness about discrimination against communities of color.

Interns will work on a team to plan and implement HCPAP. Interns will learn about hate crimes through 9 workshops, and then organize an art contest, which includes pitching the contest, judging the submissions and organizing an art gallery/award show for the winners. 

Interns will receive:

-- A $325 stipend, roundtrip subway fare, a t-shirt, a fun outing, and an intern completion certificate (to include on each intern's resume)
-- Professional Development sessions facilitated by OCA-NY Staff on 127 Walker Street, Chinatown, Manhattan. 
        -5 weekly training sessions on 4-7 p.m. in June:  Monday, June 5 and on Wednesdays, June 7, June 14, June 21, and June 28.
        -4 weekly training sessions in July on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.: July 5, July 12, July 19, and July 26  (each intern will be put into different groups who will alternate leading a session on a topic of their choice related to hate crimes)
-- Intern group outing some place fun on August 2nd 
-- Hands-on experience with running and judging an art contest
        - Art submissions judging on August 8 and 9
        - Exhibit set up and hosting on August 9 and 10
