Juneteenth Volunteer Registration
Juneteenth is an historic celebration among African Americans that honors the announcement of the end of Slavery. The first Juneteenth Festival will take place in the historic town of Liberia, in Hollywood, Florida this year on June 16, 2018. This local event will kick off with a lively parade and after the parade will be the festival with food, performances, speakers, and lots of fun. The goal of this event is to promote awareness of this historic holiday and encourage an annual celebration of Juneteenth.

The mission of the South Broward Juneteenth Celebration Committee is to actively preserve and promote the broad spectrum of African American heritage through educational and cultural activities that benefits Liberia, the City of Hollywood and surrounding South Broward communities

We will need all hands on deck on June 16, 2018, the day of the festival. We need community members to volunteer for different roles to help the day go smoothly. We are looking for Peacekeepers, Security Liaisons, Legal Observers, Street Medics, and a Logistics team; descriptions are below. Training will be provided. If you are able volunteer, please complete the form below.


VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:

Peacekeeper: Work with the security liaisons and legal observers to ensure nothing comprises the Juneteenth Parade and Festival. Help curate positive and affirmative atmosphere by being warm and helpful to Juneteenth participants.

Security Liaison: Work with peacekeepers and legal observers to ensure nothing comprises the Juneteenth Parade and Festival. Ensure parade participants feel and are safe.

Legal Observer: Work with peacekeepers and security liaisons to ensure nothing comprises the Juneteenth Parade and Festival. Legal observers will position themselves close enough to the parade/festival to be able to accurately watch and report the activities of participants and law enforcement.

Street Medic: Work with peacekeepers, security liaisons, and legal observers. First responder. Make sure Juneteenth participants are hydrated, etc - pass out water, look for other signs of trouble, etc.

Set-up, clean-up, and/or break-down: Arrive early to set-up for Juneteenth. Clean-up during and after the parade/festival. Break-down after the event.

Logistics: Various tasks throughout the day to ensure the parade/festival run smoothly.


****VOLUNTEER TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL VOLUNTEER POSITIONS. MANDATORY VOLUNTEER TRAINING ON JUNE 13TH AND MUST BE AVAILABLE TO REPORT EARLY THE DAY OF THE EVENT****
