Elementary Environmental Educator of the Year Secondary Environmental Educator of the Year Non-formal Environmental Educator of the Year Volunteer Environmental Educator of the Year
The Non-formal Environmental Educator Award recognizes environmental education professionals who work outside the formal classroom setting. The award recipient: makes continuous and enduring contributions to environmental education demonstrates capacity for creating and implementing successful EE activities; shows creative and innovative approaches to EE programming; demonstrates personal involvement in state and/or regional EE community; makes a permanent contribution to EE by integrating with formal education systems, promoting the environmental education profession, or providing training or resources to other EE professionals.
Elementary and Secondary Environmental Educator Awards recognize public or private school classroom teachers who: promotes individual and societal environmental responsibility; encourages students to make informed decisions about environmental issues; inspires student involvement and action through individual or group projects to effect positive environmental change at school or within the local community; links student learning to the appropriate state or national science benchmarks, curriculum frameworks, or standards; inspires colleagues to engage in EE activities or participate in school EE projects.
The Volunteer Environmental Educator Award recognizes environmental education volunteers who serve in museums, zoos, nature centers, etc. The award recipient: demonstrates ability for providing support for successful EE activities; makes a noteworthy contribution to EE by donating their time and talents to promoting environmental education provides lasting support of their chosen facility through their dedicated volunteer service in environmental education
