Here is a brief overview of what each seminar will comprise of:October 15th - screening of 'Tricked: Inside the World of Teen Sex Trafficking', discussion of local cases with Human Trafficking Investigator Bill Woolf, previous member of the Fairfax County Police Department
October 22nd - Tyler Young from the International Justice Mission. He will present on cyber sex trafficking, its relation to pornography, and how social media can be used as a pro and con in the trafficking business.
November 12th - Maria Buczek will present on Labor Trafficking; how we all participate in this through our consumerism and the tools we can use to be be more mindful in not contributing to it. There will also be the opportunity to taste fair trade refreshments. All ingredients will be listed by the food, so as to accommodate for any allergy concerns.
November 19th - Jodi O-Hern from JustAsk Prevention will speak on how to protect yourself from falling prey to traffickers; organizations to contact if you identify a victim or feel you have become a victim.
If you plan on attending any of these 4 seminars, it is required that you also complete and return a permission slip saying that you acknowledge that there will be sensitive issues discussed each seminar. I will be sending out an email that has both adult and minor permission slips attached around a week ahead of the seminar you are registered for, so it is essential that you provide me with an email that will be checked regularly.
