HCCHS 10th Grade (Current 9th grade) Course Selection Form
All entering 10th-grade students will be required to take English II, Math, Science, African American Studies, and ACT Prep I/Creative Writing. Placement in the following classes will be based on previous years courses:
Science - Students that successfully complete Foundations to Biology will take Biology. Students that successfully complete Biology will be placed in either Physical Science or Chemistry I based on current year's math and science scores.
Mathematics - Students that successfully complete Foundations to Algebra will take Algebra I. Student that successfully complete Algebra I will be enrolled in Geometry.

Academic Endorsement (2.5 GPA, meet MS IHL requirements, ACT -English (17) &Math (19), 26 total credits, grade of C or higher Advanced Placement or Dual Credit course)
Career and Technical Endorsement (2.5 GPA, Silver level on WorkKeys, 26 total credits, dual credit or articulated credit in CTE course,work based or career pathway experience, or earn a state board of education approved national credential)
Distinguished Academic Endorsement (3.0 GPA, meet MS IHL requirements, ACT English (18) & Math (22), 28 total credits, grade of B or higher in advanced placement or dual credit course.)

An arts course is a required elective. Please select one of the courses below if you are not currently enrolled in an art elective (music, choir, band, dance, theater).

PE is a required elective. Please select PE or JROTC if you are not currently enrolled in either course.
