This application is for the TVL Practicum class at UT Austin's McCombs School of Business. The course is available to all UT Austin graduate students. Students who apply will be interviewed and screened and only students who do well in this process will be invited to join the class. For MBA students, you do not need to bid for this class as it is an invite only class (based on your application and screening).

You may apply at any time for the practicum, however, your application will be reviewed only for the semester in which you apply. As a general timeline, Fall semester deadline is usually early March and Spring semester deadline is usually early October. About the PracticumThe TVL Practicum connects graduate students from across the university with startups from the Austin community.
The class is held on Monday evenings from 6 PM - 9 PM. The course consists of two main components: 1) team consulting projects for two startups and 2) seminars on business topics led by experts and startup veterans. Teams include business, law, engineering, science and other UT Austin graduate students. Consulting projects are typically related to market validation, go-to-market strategy, competitive analysis or financial modeling in order to prepare the company to present to investors at the end-of-semester Venture Expo.
Application ProcessAll components are required for evaluation
Step 1: (this application)Provide general information, resume and cover letter.
Step 2: Interviews - Usually one to two weeks after the application deadline. Sign up for time slots will open after the application due date. Interviews will be one-on-one.
Step 3: Group presentation - About three weeks after the application deadlinePre-assigned teams will submit an analysis and investment recommendation based on a provided business plan. Applicants will provide a peer evaluation for each team member.
Final decision and invitations will go out just before the next semester's registration opens.
