Register for SCiPP Symposium Keynote Event: "We're Not Leaving Without a Fight!"
We are excited to announce our virtual keynote event for our 10th Annual Race & Policy Symposium on Thursday April 9th from 5-7pm PST. This event is hosted by the graduate student group Students of Color in Public Policy (SCiPP) at the UC Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy. To join us, please fill out this registration form with your preferred email address. After registering, you will immediately receive an email with the link to join us online via Zoom on the event date.
We are honored to host Corrina Gould, the co-founder of the urban indigenous women-led Sogorea'Te Land Trust, and Carroll Fife, the Director of Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE) Oakland and an organizer with Moms 4 Housing. The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Brandi T. Summers, an assistant professor of Geography and Global Metropolitan Studies at UC Berkeley.
In December 2019, Moms4Housing occupied a vacant, investor-owned home in Oakland. Moms4Housing organizer, Dominique Walker, told the world “We’re not leaving without a fight.” This event honors their fight and the fight of generations of Black and indigenous organizers to reclaim land and power in the face of destructive policies and politics.
Please join us for a powerful, intersectional event on the organizing power of black and indigenous women and on historic misconceptions of land ownership, urbanism, and private property. #TellingOurOwnStories #SCIPPSymposium2020
