East Central Bristol SuperMANs
Our next Multi Agency Network Meeting has a slightly different feel to it than normal: we’ve called it “SuperMANs” and it’s focusing on workshops around continued professional development rather than speakers.
The East Central Bristol SuperMANs is on:
Thursday 3rd October from 9:am to 12.30pm
at
The Vassall Centre, Gill Avenue, Fishponds, Bristol, BS16 2QQ
SuperMANs will allow delegates an opportunity to attend 2 out of 6 possible workshops (more if you attend more than one event) which have all been structured to meet the needs of our audience as based on your feedback.
The outline of the day will look like this:
9:15 Refreshments, introductions and networking
9:30 Address by Councillor Helen Goodwin
9:45 Workshop 1 – you will have a choice of one of the following workshops:
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) – presented by Bonnie Curran, Planning and
Development Advisor
Local partners have been working together to develop a city wide approach to
preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and to mitigate their immediate
and long term impacts.
We have been successful in gaining support from Bristol Health Partners to
establish an ACE Health Integration Team (HIT) to aid this collaboration.
CAMHS and Mental Health – presented by Ailsa Fullerton, Senior CAMHS Primary
Mental Health Specialist
Would you like to know more about how Children and Adolescent Mental Health
Services (CAMHS) work in Bristol? Come along to this workshop to get an
overview of CAMHS, their thresholds, ways to make a referral and a brief look at
what the new iTHRIVE model for children's mental health services will mean for
the service. Useful if you are new to children's mental health services in Bristol,
or if you feel in need of a refresher.
Contextual Safeguarding – Presented by Helen MacDonald, School Safeguarding
Advisor
There are an increasing number of references to Contextual Safeguarding
throughout many agencies in Bristol and it is going to become more prominent
over the next few years.
This workshop aims to:
- Give you a clear understanding of what Contextual Safeguarding is
- Help you understand how it will impact on the young people you are working
with
- Assist us all to consider safeguarding in a wider context to support our young
people
10:45 Refreshments and networking
11:15 Workshop 1 – you will have a choice of one of the following workshops:
Signs of Safety – presented by Alex Campbell, Deputy Area Service Manager
This workshop will cover an introduction to Bristol’s chosen practice approach for
working with families - Signs of Safety: what it is, what it does and how we use this
approach across children’s services. We will be looking at:
- How the Mapping Framework is used for Assessments and Planning
- The ways that Signs of Safety mapping can be used in your own settings
- Bristol's use of the Signs of Safety approach to support referrals to other
agencies
Reducing Parental Conflict – presented by Emily Ingle
This is an introductory workshop to Reducing Parental Conflict Practitioner and
Manager Training which will be running in Bristol, free to practitioners between
November 2019 and March 2020.
This session will help you
- Gain a greater awareness of what is meant by parental conflict and why it
matters
- Explore the co-parenting relationship in more detail
- Discuss why constructive conflict is okay and the signs that a relationship
may be in distress
- Explore the significant impact that a poor quality co-parent-relationship can
have on child outcomes
- Identify what the evidence base tells us about parental conflict
The Neglect Toolkit – presented Esther Lambert, Training Officer
Practitioners often struggle to identify and explain exactly what neglect issues
exist within a family, using language that everyone understands. To help us to
improve this area of our work Bristol has invested in Graded Care Profile 2 - an
evidence based tool that clearly identifies what level of Neglect is present. It can
be used by all agencies, integrates easily into existing assessments, and works
well with the Signs of Safety approach.
This session will cover:
- Why Bristol needed to invest in assessing Neglect
- An introduction to the GCP2 assessment tool
- Who can use GCP2 and at what stages of intervention
- The plan for implementation in Bristol and where you can get further training
