2017 YOUTH ART FAIR APPLICATION
Overview
The Youth Art Fair component of the Uptown Art Fair that takes place in Calhoun Square retail center. It brings together a diverse group of artists between the ages of 8 and 18 and gives them an opportunity to display, discuss, and sell their work, while keeping all of their earnings!

The Youth Art Fair is an excellent opportunity for young artists to showcase their talent and experience an art fair alongside seasoned professionals who participate in the Uptown Art Fair. From sculpture to painting, photography to jewelry, if you're interested in crafting and selling your artwork, this is the fair for you!

Requirements
Artists must be between the ages of 8 and 18.

All artwork must be original. Work made from a kit is not permitted. This includes items such as balloons and yo-yos.

Artists must personally tend their booths and be present during the entire event. Representatives, including family members, may NOT attend in place of the artist. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the hours of operation.

Only items described in the application or shown in submitted photographs may be displayed. Artists may not use their booths to display samples of items to be delivered later. Sales should be on a “cash and carry” basis.

The following are absolutely prohibited:
• Services such as face or nail painting, hair braiding, flower arranging, or henna tattooing
• The sale of food
• Use of licensed, trademarked, or copyrighted characters or names
• Games including prize-winning or raffles
• Activities that require the purchaser to assemble their product
• Commercial banners hanging in artists’ booths

> Provide a description of your artwork and the materials used. Do not send samples, they cannot be returned.
> Include $40 entry fee: Check payable to Uptown Association or credit card details online.

ENTRY DEADLINE: FRIDAY, JUNE 9, 2017

Entries must be received online, in person or postmarked by Friday, June 9, 2017. NO exceptions to the deadline will be made. Hand delivered entries will be accepted at the Uptown Association office until 4 pm. Space is limited and based upon timing of payment received — placement not guaranteed. Submissions will be reviewed immediately and fee refunded if criteria not met. Participants announced after deadline.

Saturday August 5, 11am - 6pm
Sunday August 6, 11am - 5pm

Booth Information
Each booth includes a 6’ table and two chairs. Artists must provide any other materials necessary for display of artwork, including your own table covering.

Artwork displays should be simple and functional. Artwork must fit on table (no floor display space). No tents allowed.

Booth set up and tear down should take no longer than one hour with minimal adult help.

NO electricity included. Please do not bring materials that require electricity.

Artists who wish to share a booth need to fill out an entry form for each individual artist and submit the forms together. Each artist must pay the $40 application fee.

T-SHIRTS:
Exhibitors must wear a t-shirt designed exclusively for Youth Art Fair participants. Please indicate your desired size on entry form. T-shirt included with entry fee.

In order for your application to be considered complete you must e-mail one photograph of your work to info@uptownminneapolis.com. You may also send a photograph in the mail to 1406 West Lake Street Minneapolis MN 55408. Please include the artist's full name.

A parent or guardian must read and answer the following questions before the Youth Art Fair application can be submitted.
I have read the call for entry and will be responsible for my child understanding and complying with the rules and regulations of this event. I certify that the items to be sold have been designed and executed by my child. I understand that I am responsible for my child and the safety of the materials that are used in the artwork sold by him/her in the Youth Art Fair. If my child is not present, misrepresents his/her work, or violates any of the Uptown Association regulations, the Uptown Association may remove objectionable items or terminate his/her participation without refund. I understand that the decisions of the Uptown Association are final.
