Realignment of UtSTA Boundaries
To better serve the needs of Utah’s science teachers, the Utah Science Teachers Association board has proposed a realignment of region boundaries and seeks a vote of support from the UtSTA members. These newly proposed regions will accomplish a number of things for the UtSTA. First, the regions will align better with the service centers that currently exist in the state. These service centers, found in only the rural areas, bring together the school district superintendents of the region for planning and decision making. The board feels it is best to align our regions with the existing regions to make better use of existing communication channels and partnerships. Secondly, the proposed regions (Region 1-5) distribute the number of students and teachers in each region with greater equality. This will provide a stronger voice for the science teachers in the regions to influence the work the UtSTA focuses on.
