Replicability and transferability potential
The establishment of a harmonised model for calculation and reduction of the carbon footprint in non-ETS sectors is the main objective of the LIFE Clim'Foot project, "Climate Governance: Implementing public policies to calculate and reduce organisations carbon footprint". The project started in September 2015 in five EU countries - France, Italy, Greece, Hungary, and Croatia. The project coordinator is the French Agency for Environment and Energy Management (ADEME). This three-year Clim'Foot project is co-financed through the LIFE program.

The main objectives of the LIFE Clim'Foot for project partners from Italy, Greece, Hungary, and Croatia are to develop and apply national carbon footprint calculation models, by adapting the comprehensive French Bilan Carbone® tool to national conditions. For the purposes of the models, national databases of emission factors are developed, which consists of more than 150 national, country-specific, emission factors and at least 150 EU emission factors.

The goal of the LIFE Clim'Foot project is also to spread all over Europe a common approach and standard databases for calculating the organisations carbon footprint. In this context, ENEA and EIHP should analyse the situation in different European countries regarding organisation’s carbon footprint, in order to identify which countries might be interested in the project results and implementation of the LIFE Clim’Foot project approach for organisations’ carbon footprint calculation and reduction.
