I hope this finds you well! Our team is over the moon excited that you have agreed to be a Read Aloud Guest for BLAQUE KC Freedom School. 

We are an organization committed to significantly improving the academic, economic, social, emotional, and life outcomes of African-American Children in public schools. With your help we believe that we can curve summer learning loss and promote a positive cultural outlet for students while on summer break.

You all bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and just overall love for the community here in Kansas City and that’s what we want our students to attach to. We want our students to be able to see themselves in every guest we bring in so it was a “no brainer” to reach out to each of you.

Our Freedom School is expanding this summer, catch us June 10, 2024 - July 19, 2024! We will be hosting our home site at Friendship Baptist Church, 3530 Chelsea Dr #3500, Kansas City MO. However we are also partnering with the Kansas City Public School District to host a second site. Each of you will have a choice of selected books to read on the morning you’re scheduled. Each reader will receive a google calendar invite with the date, time, and location. The “Read Aloud” portion will be held within our HARAMBE assembly which starts at 9:30am and will end 10:00am so we are asking that you arrive between 9:00am-9:15am.

When you arrive to Friendship Baptist/KCPS Site you will park in the main parking lot and there will be markers indicating where you enter. We are excited to receive you.
