Siu Family Charitable Fund Scholarship Application
The Siu Family Charitable Fund and CYC are fully aware that scholarships and financial aid are important in assisting students from low income immigrant families attain a college education. The dream of being able to pursue a higher education is a life-changing moment with a lifetime of impacts. Through this scholarship, the youth in our community are being offered the opportunity of achieving success and developing their knowledge and passion into becoming the next generation of leaders with a future full of endless possibilities.
BACKGROUND AND INFORMATION:
Number of awards: 2
Amount: $2,000 each
Total Award: $4,000
Immigrant youth or youth of immigrant parents who is the first person in their immediate family to attend college. Must be entering first year of college in Fall 2020.
Incoming freshman accepted and enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year or two-year college in 2020
Must study full time
A citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States
Current CYC youth participant
Minimum 3.0 GPA
Residency: San Francisco
Strong family and community support
Personal strengths including maturity, motivation and potential to succeed
Civic engagement/community service experience
Applications must be received by Monday, January 27, 2020

Completed student application form & essay answers
Most recent transcript(s) of grades (including grade scale); unofficial transcripts are acceptable
Resume (include work experience, school activities, community service, honors and awards)
Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which is from a CYC staff. Letters should be on official school or organization letterhead.
Note: Three finalists will be chosen. Finalists must be available for a 30-minute interview in February at CYC (dates to be determined). If chosen for interview, finalists must submit official transcript(s) of grades, SAT/ACT score reports and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) report. Applicants will be notified by Monday, March 2, 2020 whether or not they have been selected as scholarship recipients. Scholarships will be awarded at CYC’s 50th Annual "Festival of Youth" Gala on Friday, March 20, 2020.
