Be an amplify! open mic producer at ātac!
We are looking for producers to lead the next generation of our singer-songwriter open mic and our brand new poetry open mic! If you love creating safe, accessible, encouraging spaces for creative people to grow together in skill and inspiration please read the info below and submit this proposal by November 30.
amplify! is ātac’s open mic series working to amplify individual voices, community connection, and confidence. The series consists of four monthly shows: Jazz Jam + Show, Amazing Comedy, Poetry Open Mic, and a Singer-Songwriter Open Mic. Each show is intentionally welcoming to individuals of all skill levels, ages, backgrounds, and orientations. With a variety of creative expressions represented, amplify! is making space for every voice to be heard!
ātac’s mission is to create community through the arts; our open mics are an important part of our effort to serve that mission. They are a place where friendships are formed and fostered. They inspire creation and collaboration. Since 2005 we have been host to open mics that have provided space for artists, from emerging to professional, to practice their skill, learn from each other, and be inspired. Our stage has been the first for many musicians and comedians who have returned to us years later to perform as professionals. Additionally, our open mics are a safe place for the novice performer to experience performing for an audience. Creativity often requires an incubator, a well-hosted open mic provides the warmth that helps it grow.
Producers are responsible for:
curating and leading open mics on during our season (September to June)
finding and booking a featured performer for each show
collaborating with the ātac staff on marketing (flyering, posting, monitoring and posting in a Facebook group)
fostering a welcoming and inclusive community
opening and closing the venue as well as other house manager duties
Producers and featured performers will receive a small stipend as compensation
Which open mic are you interested in producing?
Singer/songwriter (1st and 3rd Thursday of the month)
