Webinar: Dementia-Friendly Walking Groups
A Start-Up Guide for Community-Based Organizations

Date/Time: 10 - 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 24
Organizer: Washington State "Dementia Action Collaborative"
Website: www.dshs.wa.gov/altsa/dementia-action-collaborative
Presenters: Kenna Little, Alzheimer's Association; Cayce Cheairs, Seattle Parks & Recreation

Description:
Dementia-friendly walking groups provide people with memory loss and their loved ones an opportunity for social connection and light exercise through the pleasure of walking together.

In this webinar, presenters will guide community-based organizations in how to plan, market and launch this program model and will share examples of the variety of dementia-friendly walking groups taking place around the state. The content is geared toward organizations already equipped to offer recreation programs to the public (such as senior centers, community centers, fitness centers, parks and recreation departments or other non-profit organizations). It will also be useful for anyone who wants to encourage local organizations to start this kind of program in their community.

The webinar is organized by the Washington State Dementia Action Collaborative and hosted by AARP Washington.
