COMMUNITY OPPOSITION: Proposal to build a Costco on PUSD's "Black Mountain Ranch Site"
On Sept 10th, 2020, Poway Unified School District's (PUSD) Board of Directors approved a proposal to allow Costco to build a "Costco Village" (Warehouse store, retail, apartment complex) on previously designated land intended for a middle school. This land is on the corner of Camino Del Sur and Carmel Valley Road. Their next step is a finalized contract with Costco which will be up for a board approval/vote in 60 days. Thereafter, the ball will start rolling with respect to Costco's activities for zoning, approvals, etc.
Based on the feedback over the last few days, there are many families opposed to this plan. This survey has 7 questions and is intended to determine who is interested in supporting as lead/committee members, research, outreach, donate funds, will sign a petition, etc. In addition, we want to understand whether there is general alignment on the objective. This is not an all-inclusive survey and is intended only to organize the group's efforts at this initial stage.
We hope to have enough community support to influence the outcome. Thank you.
