Our building teams are responsible for setting up the whole infrastructure for the competitions. All competition venues will need tents and signage, and tracks need to be set. The builders should prepare for intense work in any weather. No prior orienteering experience is necessary.
Some courses take place inside cities (30.6-1.7 in Tartu and 2.7 in Viljandi). We need several volunteers to take care that the competition does not disturb the residents. All course points need to remain in their locations; cars should not park on critical course points; competitors should not take shortcuts through private territories. No prior orienteering experience is needed.
Several arena services are required to cater for the participants and guests of the competitions: traffic control, baggage hold, car parking, first aid, souvenir sales etc. We need communicative and friendly volunteers for all tasks. No prior orienteering experience is necessary.
We are looking for presentable volunteers to take the role of hostesses and flag hoisters at the award ceremonies. If you are young, dashing, in good shape, and are not afraid of television cameras, come and show your smile on the WOC awardings!
It takes a lot of people to help the competitors get on and off the course. Everyone needs to be checked in, and then allowed to start on the right time. At finish, their results must be recorded and maps must be disposed of properly. Some previous orienteering encounters are an advantage.
The info desks for WOC and EOW are located both in competition centres and the city of Tartu. They issue competition materials and register participants to the courses. We need volunteers to communicate with people and help them navigate the competition centres. Some previous orienteering encounters are an advantage.
An orienteering competition cannot take place unless the course is set up: track points need to be placed and checked, forbidden areas must be marked. In the end of the competition all the markings must be cleared as well. Here we are looking for volunteers with excellent orienteering abilities!
