PLATO members are invited to participate in this "pop-up" virtual film discussion group to share their learnings, impressions and questions about the PBS documentary film series "The American Revolution" by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt. We are fortunate to have PLATO member Dr. Michael Stevens moderate this discussion! He received his Ph.D. in early American history at the UW-Madison, and has written and published on the 1770s and 1780s.
The first discussion will take place on Friday, December 5 at 1:30-3:00pm. Please be sure to have watched the first three episodes by then.
The second discussion will take place on Friday, December 12 at 1:30-3:00pm. Please be sure to have watched the final three episodes by then.
You may participate in just one or both of these discussion groups.
You will receive the link via email on the morning of each event.
NOTE: This "pop-up" discussion group is part of a PLATO pilot program to provide members with opportunities to gather informally to explore topics or activities of interest at any time throughout the year. They are not formal PLATO courses or lectures and tend to be more spontaneous in nature. Please contact the PLATO office with questions about how to offer your own PLATO Pop-Up Event at
