Canvassing Job Application
Looking for highly motivated, self-driven canvassers who want a fairer and more just city.
Join our field team to help gather signatures for our fair elections campaign! We’re collecting over 5,000 signatures from registered El Paso city voters to transform El Paso’s elections to be fairer and more representative of everyday El Pasoans. This job involves gathering signatures from eligible voters.
Duration:
This position will be available from now and continuing through April 2023.
Compensation:
Pay is $2 for every good signature. Good signatures are defined as:
Authentic (i.e. not forged)
Legible
All of the information required is complete
Person lives in the City of El Paso (not just the County)
You have entered the VUID (we can explain this further in an interview and in training)
Schedule:
Your schedule will be flexible, but the priority will be to work when voters are attending large events.
Details:
You will be outdoors collecting signatures from registered voters in public places and events. You will be carrying a clipboard and a pen for gathering signatures. Training will be provided. Canvassers will be expected to collect good signatures. Good signatures are those that belong to registered voters in the City of El Paso.
You will need to have a phone with reliable internet service and are expected to keep it charged during your shift.
What we’re looking for:
People with good and clear handwriting
Bilingual a plus, not a must
Friendly and outgoing
Passionate and convincing (political background and knowledge preferable)
Experience with speaking with a lot of strangers, whether it’s through customer service experience or similar organizing/volunteering experience
Stipulations:
The first week is probationary and dependent on how many good signatures collects, punctuality, etc.
