This letter is to inform you about Freshmen Orientation, which will take place at Menomonie High School in the Lecture Hall. Freshmen Orientation is a two-step process. First there is a one-hour meeting for both students and parents during the week of August 13th. At this meeting, principals will discuss school rules, programs, and opportunities available at MHS. Students will then receive their schedules and have the opportunity to meet with their school counselor, if needed. Families will also be able to fill out paper work, pay fees and students will get their pictures taken for their Student ID’s.
The second step of orientation will take place on August 30th; it is a day of school designed specifically for Freshmen. Students will be beginning their high school experience with the MHS Link Crew. This is a student led orientation/transition group. Students will spend all morning in their Link Crews. After lunch, students will spend approximately 15 minutes in each of their classes meeting with their instructors. We will close out the day with an Activity Fair where students can learn about the many co-curricular opportunities, organizations, clubs, and sports at MHS. Parents are encouraged to attend this event as well. Even though this Activity Fair is designed for Freshmen, all new and current students and their parents are invited to attend.
Below, is a listing of the times and dates for the Freshmen Orientation meetings. Select a session and submit it as soon as possible. Please mark your calendars and retain for your records - there will be no other mailing. In the event some sessions get overloaded, we may contact you to see if a switch can be made.
The MHS staff looks forward to working with you and your student at the orientation and throughout their upcoming school years. We hope that you can participate in these very important meetings with your student. If you have any questions, please contact Linda Jolicoeuer at 715-232-2606 ext. 40137.
