WFA 2026 Talent Accelerator Workshop: City Application

Work for America helps cities recruit, hire and inspire top talent. Talent Accelerator Workshops are free, 8-week virtual cohorts for city leaders seeking practical improvements to hiring systems.

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR:
*TRANSFORMING CITY HIRING PROCESSES (
Spring 2026 Cohort)*

Duration: 8 weeks from April 21 – June 9, 2026
Weekly Sessions: Tuesdays, 2:00–3:00 PM EST
Commitment: 2-5 city staff, ~3 hours/week for sessions, coaching, and preparation.

City HR and operations teams are under pressure to hire faster while navigating civil service rules, compliance requirements, and competing departmental priorities. Many know their hiring timelines are too long but lack clear visibility into where processes stall or who owns what.

Transforming City Hiring Processes
is a practical workshop for city HR and operational leaders ready to reduce time-to-hire, clarify workflows, and improve the candidate experience. Participating cities will rapidly improve their hiring outcomes by shortening hiring timelines and identifying precise ways to improve process efficiency. With a 2 to 5 person cross-functional team, cities will:

  • Map their end-to-end hiring process
  • Identify bottlenecks and unclear ownership
  • Prioritize practical process improvements
  • Develop a leadership-ready brief
  • Build peer connections with other city leaders
  • Receive three 1:1 coaching sessions with WFA's government HR experts

Visit WFA’s Talent Accelerator Website to see a detailed program overview or sign up for an upcoming live Q&A Session for prospective applicants.

Applications close March 20 at 11:59 PM EST. Selected cities will be notified by April 1. Space is limited.
