Ada Christian Transportation Request - due by Friday, June 29, 2018
If you have used Forest Hills Public Schools transportation in the past you will know that we offer this service in conjunction with our Ada Vista Spanish Immersion program. Several years ago we implemented a new transportation plan for the students at Ada Vista. This district‐wide program offers unique transportation challenges that require unique solutions. That, coupled with an enormous reduction in the district’s overall budget, prompted us to envision a new system for transporting our children.

Our plan modified the existing system of designated regional bus stops. In the morning children rode the buses for their neighborhood middle and high schools, which run early enough to accommodate the early start time of Ada Christian. When the high school buses arrived at Northern, Eastern, or Central, children were directed to shuttle busses that transported them to Ada Christian.

In the afternoon, children rode shuttle buses to their neighborhood elementary schools, and from there took the neighborhood elementary buses home. Please note that the choice of elementary schools will be based on attendance area and space available. Example: If you live within the Collins Elementary attendance area your students may be put on a Northern Trails bus which services the same area.

Some parents opted to transport their children to designated bus stops on each high school campus, where the shuttle bus stopped to pick up children. In the afternoon, some parents picked up their children at the neighborhood elementary school of their preference. It is also an option to transport your child directly to and from school.

Below is a transportation request form. Please complete and submit this form to the Transportation Department no later than Friday, June 29, 2018. Requests received after that date will be not be processed until after the second week of school and only on a space available basis. If you are requesting transportation services please only select the options (one for morning, one for afternoon) that you are likely to use on a regular basis. Should an emergency arise or your transportation needs change, please call the Transportation Office at (616) 493-8785 and we can make accommodations to assist you.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to provide safe and efficient transportation services in these challenging economic times.

Sincerely,

Darryl Hofstra
Supervisor of Transportation
