Here's how the Chapter Launch process works so you can see why this process might move more slowly than any of us wish:1) First we have to identify funding ... Starting up & sustaining a chapter costs money. Sustainability is of utmost importance to us;
2) Next we identify areas where there is on-the-ground support ... Starting chapters in areas where there is little to no support puts an undue burden on our facilitators and our team;
3) We seek out facilitators using a mix of emails to those who said they were interested (that's you!), personal networks, and on social media and invite them to apply to be facilitators;
4) Our facilitators are vetted (to ensure you're human and have the capacity for the role), trained, and integrated into our vibrant network of 140+ facilitators. The only requirement is that you care about advancing efforts to pass paid leave, make child care more affordable, and improve maternal health;
5) Chapters facilitators work together to launch their chapter. This means sometimes that launch is delayed because of hand foot mouth sweeping through a household, or a surgery recovery. We trust our facilitators to know their limits and their communities.
