Spring 2019 Hatchery Application
Hey there! We're happy that you are interested in The Hatchery, the incubator for student ventures at Johns Hopkins

This semester, we're running two separate tracks of the Hatchery, Ideate and Accelerate. Ideate is for our idea-stage teams - this track is the right fit for you if your startup idea is relatively new, and you need to learn how to do things such as validate an idea, design a prototype, do market research and customer discovery, and come up with a basic business plan.

Accelerate is meant for students who have already validated their idea, have made a prototype, or done customer discovery. It's focused on helping teams with things such as moving from prototype to product, scaling their venture, generating traction, fundraising, and working on an investment-ready business plan.

Both tracks come with mentorship, education, and access to resources from the key entrepreneurship hubs on campus. If you are unsure which track your venture fits in, take your best guess and we will talk with you if we think the other track would be a better fit.

Between the two tracks, we work with ventures at every stage - from "had the idea yesterday" to "already turning a profit". Admission into the Hatchery is a competitive process, but we look for dedicated, hardworking, self-directed founders (whether solo or co-founder'd up)

If you have any questions, email hatchery@tcolabs.org. Good luck!

Tell us a story that shows you know how to hustle.
Ideas change rapidly, but strong founders are the ones that make or break a venture. It's okay if this is your first go at entrepreneurship - just tell us something that shows us you have what it takes to be a student entrepreneur

Being a part of The Hatchery is a commitment. Are you up for it? *
Being a student entrepreneur is hard, so we try not to add too much to your workload. But being in The Hatchery will require at least 3 hours per week between meeting with mentors and attending workshops, events, and Cohort activities. While this work can be split between team members, if you cannot commit to this, please save the spot for a team who can.
