UAW 2865 GSR/RA Survey
In collaboration with students across the University of California system, the UC Student-Workers’ Union (UAW 2865) is reaching out to Research Assistants (RAs) and Graduate Student Researchers (GSRs) to learn how we can better support you. Specifically, through this survey, we hope to learn more about the work experiences and needs of RAs and GSRs statewide to improve access to benefits and protections like fee remission, daycare subsidies, improved health plans, lab safety, and processes for addressing discriminatory workplace practises like sexual harassment and racism.

UAW 2865 currently represents 13,000 Academic Student Employees–Tutors, Readers, and Teaching Assistants–at the nine UC teaching campuses, negotiating the contract that outlines student-worker rights, protections, and benefits. Our Local is currently working with RAs and GSRs across California to win them the rights and protections afforded other UC student-workers. Please visit for more information about our campaign. We ask for your help in filling out this survey, which will direct our work.

The results of this survey will be presented in aggregate only and we will not disclose any identifying information about you. If you have any questions about the survey or the campaign, please don’t hesitate to contact us at

In Solidarity,
The UC Student-Workers’ Union, UAW 2865
