HIGH SCHOOL SCA PARENT COUNCIL COMMITTEES
All Chair positions are a 2 year commitment unless indicated otherwise
Description for Grade Level Chair: 2 positions per grade are needed. 2 year position. Act as a liaison between the SCA leadership and parents/guardians of your student’s grade. Responsible for reporting issues in their grades and contacting parents/guardians via email regarding school and SCA news. Facilitate communication about budget. Required to attend monthly GLC meetings and to serve as a volunteer at the SCA Fair. Expected to attend SCA HS parent council meetings and at least one Board of Education meeting. Required to organize frolic fundraiser for their grade on evening of frosh/soph dance or prom.
Description for Class of 2021 Senior Banquet Committee (Monday, November 2, 2020): 1 year position. Organize this Frolic fundraising event for seniors and their families. Sub-committees listed below organize specific parts of the evening. 11th grade parent volunteers are needed to help the night of the event with Check-in and with Check-out for silent auction and raffles. A volunteer coordinator will obtain and organize 11th grade parent volunteers for the night of the event.
Description for Class of 2021 Frolic Committee: 1 year position. Plan, create, organize and execute theme for Senior Frolic. Work with and organize parent volunteers and sub-committees. Budget, organize and rent/purchase supplies needed to create this Manhasset tradition for our seniors on graduation night
Description for Frolic Takedown Committee: 1 year position. Organize and work with 11th grade parent volunteers to take down frolic decorations the morning after the Senior Frolic.
Description for Staff Appreciation Luncheon Committee (Spring): Organize a luncheon honoring the High School teachers and staff. Work with parent volunteers, collect donations, serve and clean up.
Description for Photo Day (Fall): Assist and direct students with regard to photos
Description for College Essay Committee: Works with English Coordinator at the High School to organize and plan College Essay Workshop for rising seniors during the summer.
Description for Directory Committee (September/Early October): Prepare, proof and distribute school directory after compiling all info from parents/guardians

Description for CASA Liaison (Monthly): Serve as a High School representative at CASA meetings
Description of SCA Luncheon Committee (November): Organize the Fall fundraising event for the membership. Volunteers are needed to help with the silent auction, raffles, vendors as well as helping out the day of the event.
Description for Planet Manhasset/Community Gardens: The chairperson will be the main point person for three gardens located in the District: Munsey Park, Shelter Rock and the Secondary School. The chairperson will coordinate with school administrators, teachers, HS Green Club, Scout Troops and interested community members to maintain the edible organic garden at the HS as well as the monarch butterfly waystations at MP & SR. This chairperson will also be responsible for organizing fundraising opportunities for Planet Manhasset throughout the school year.
Description for Membership Committee (September-January): Distribute SCA Membership forms and collect dues at Open Houses and through the mail
Description for Community Education Committee: Committee plans and arranges community forums, speakers and discussions in keeping with the goal of raising awareness, providing clarity regarding issues pertinent to the budget and mission of the DIstrict. Hang balloons in town on the day of the vote. On-going community meetings and planning throughout the spring (March, April and May). More time is spent during the weeks before the district budget vote in May.
Description for Health and Safety Committee: Chair will serve as High School representative on the district-wide SCA Health and Wellness and Safety Committees.
Description for Ways and Means Committee Chair/Treasurer: Evaluates, organizes and directs all major fundraising efforts for the SCA. Fundraisers include the SCA Fair, SCA Luncheon and Champions for Charity.
Description for Project Share Committee: A district-wide effort to attempt to fill the basic needs of economically challenged families in our schools. Works with Holiday Gift Program and Community Service Committee to make a quiet difference in others’ lives. Strictly confidential.
